1. General Presentation of the Embassy

The Embassy of Chad in Cameroon is the diplomatic representation of the Republic of Chad to the Republic of Cameroon. It is located in Yaoundé, in the Bastos district (P.O. Box 506), one of the capital's traditional diplomatic quarters.

Diplomatic relations between Chad and Cameroon, both member states of CEMAC, date back to 1962. The Embassy has since been the principal channel for Chad's political, diplomatic and consular representation in Cameroon, complemented by a Consulate in Douala, the economic capital, on the coast, and a Consulate in Garoua, in northern Cameroon, an area with a strong presence of Chadian nationals and significant cross-border movement.

2. Missions and Responsibilities

In accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961) and the texts governing Chadian diplomatic missions, the Embassy's responsibilities include:

- Representing the Chadian State and defending its interests before the Cameroonian authorities - Protecting the interests of Chad and its nationals residing in or passing through Cameroon - Negotiating with the Cameroonian government, particularly on bilateral matters (borders, security, economy, hydrocarbons — see the COTCO/TOTCO files) - Informing the Chadian government of political, economic and social developments in Cameroon - Promoting friendly relations and economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between the two States - Consular services: issuing visas, passports, civil status documents, and legalizing documents for Chadian nationals

3. Vision and Values

Vision: a modern, efficient diplomatic representation, close to its community, consolidating a lasting strategic partnership between Chad and Cameroon in the service of regional integration (CEMAC).

4. Overview of Our Services

Consular Section — Issuance of visas, passports, laissez-passer documents; registration and protection of Chadian nationals; civil status (birth and marriage certificates); document legalization.

Administration — Management of diplomatic and administrative staff, logistics of the mission, management of the Embassy's movable and immovable assets, human resources.

Cooperation — Monitoring of Chad-Cameroon bilateral agreements (economic, security, hydrocarbons, cross-border infrastructure), relations with CEMAC/ECCAS institutions based in and around Yaoundé, monitoring of sensitive files (e.g. disputes surrounding COTCO/TOTCO).

Culture — Promotion of Chadian culture in Cameroon, organization of events (national celebrations, cultural days), links with the Chadian diaspora, support for Chadian students.
