Consular Emergencies

The consular service of the Embassy of Chad in Cameroon provides support for emergency situations involving Chadian nationals on Cameroonian territory. These situations notably include:

Death of a Chadian national in Cameroon (formalities for repatriation of the body or local burial, issuance of death certificates) Serious accident, hospitalization or illness requiring consular assistance Arrest, detention or imprisonment of a Chadian national (right of consular visit, monitoring of judicial proceedings) Loss or theft of identity documents (passport, consular card) requiring the issuance of an emergency laissez-passer to allow return to Chad Repatriation of nationals in distress (destitution, natural disaster, conflict, expulsion) Disappearance of a Chadian national reported by their family Situations of collective crisis (public order disturbances, disasters) requiring the registration and safeguarding of the Chadian community

Recommended Procedure in Case of Emergency Contact the Embassy (or the nearest Consulate) by telephone as a priority Have identification documents and documents related to the situation ready (medical certificate, police report, death certificate, etc.) If possible, go there in person or send a representative/family member with a power of attorney For detention cases, formally request a consular visit from the competent Cameroonian authorities
