Military cooperation: meeting between the Defence Ministers of Chad and Cameroon

On Thursday 21 May 2026 in Yaoundé, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon in charge of Defence, Mr Joseph Beti Assomo, received in audience General Issakha Malloua Djamous, Minister of the Armed Forces, Veterans and War Victims of the Republic of Chad. The talks between the two officials focused on strengthening cooperation between the Chadian and Cameroonian defence forces, as well as on the shared security challenges facing the Central African sub-region, particularly in the fight against non-state armed groups. This meeting illustrates the two countries' ongoing commitment to consolidating a long-standing security cooperation, already tested within the Multinational Joint Task Force and the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
